FIRST THREE MONTHS HIGHLIGHTS
- Number of clubs in the network was unchanged in the quarter at 905; an increase of 77 clubs year on year
- Number of memberships decreased by 10% in the first quarter to 1.80 million (Q4 2020: 2.00 million)
- Revenue of € 10.7 million (Q1 2020: €137.5 million) with 94% of our clubs being closed due to government measures
- €37 million investments in the installation of smart camera systems, club layout improvements, software and new product development and expansion capex
- €142 million liquidity available at quarter end

OUTLOOK 2021
- Current government roadmaps indicate possible reopening of our clubs in the Netherlands on 11 May and in Belgium and France shortly thereafter
- Our clubs can reopen with strict protocols offering our members a safe place to work out in, as soon as government measures for fitness clubs are lifted
- When we have reopened our clubs and have more visibility on the development of COVID-19 and memberships, we will update the market on our expectations regarding club openings for 2021 and 2022

Fitnessketen Urban Gym Group breidt haar managementteam uit met een Chief of Staff. Mirjam Roos (39) zal nauw samenwerken met het management team op strategische onderwerpen, de operationalisering hiervan en de structurering van diverse organisatie brede onderwerpen voor CEO Marjolijn Meijer, en ad interim co-CEO Jordy Kool. Kool, die in januari dit jaar de rol van ad interim co-CEO op zich nam: “Mirjam en ik hebben ruim 10 jaar samengewerkt bij Infotheek Group. Zij heeft daar de ladder beklommen tot Commercieel Directeur en, na de acquisities van Centralpoint en Scholten Awater, als mijn Chief of Staff. In die hoedanigheid hielp zij mij met de groei van onze business nationaal en internationaal. Zij is hands-on en ervaren op diverse gebieden, zoals HR, recruitment, talent management, marketing en sales en de professionalisering hiervan in snel groeiende organisaties. Wij kijken er naar uit om met haar ons bedrijf verder uit te bouwen.” Roos: ”Ik vind het een eer uit om onderdeel te worden van dit energieke team. De Urban Gym Group is primair gericht op hun members en medewerkers en hebben concrete ambities waar ik graag aan meewerk.
 
Urban Gym Group is actief in de grotere steden en biedt state-of te art fitnesservaringen: Trainmore, Clubsportive en High Studios. De groeiplannen omvatten onder meer het openen van nog eens 25 nieuwe gyms op A-locaties en de lancering van diverse nieuwe fitnessconcepten. Kool: “Onze strategie ziet op meerdere acquisities, business development en organische groei voor onze bestaande diensten. We zullen dan ook meer professionals aannemen in 2021. Momenteel zitten we in het aanname proces van een CFO en zijn we gestart met de zoektocht naar non-executive boardmembers voor onze one-tier board.”

New Orleans, LA –  Effective April 1, 2021, Hans Muench has formally assumed the role of Director of International Business Development for the Fitness Industry Technology Council (FIT-C).

The FIT-C has become an important source of thought leadership, and a forum for tech companies, large and small, to share news and best practices.

“I am thrilled to be part of this cutting-edge global group,” stated Muench, a Canadian with a German passport who has lived and worked in seven countries on three continents. He has been living in Switzerland since early 2014.

With an MBA in International Business, experience with suppliers (Life Fitness Europe’s first EMEA Sales and Marketing Director), operators (single club and chains), trade associations (IHRSA’s Director of International Development for five years in Boston and Director of Europe for eight years) software companies and educational institutions, Hans has a 360-degree view of the industry.

A regular speaker at industry events, Hans contributes to various trade publications and has shared his perspective on numerous webinars and podcasts. In December 2017 Muench was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the National Fitness Awards in the UK.
