Positive membership development in the Netherlands after reopening; restart of club rollout plan with 68 new club openings in June
Basic-Fit N.V. (Basic-Fit), Europe’s largest and fastest growing fitness chain, will reopen its clubs in France and Belgium on 9 June. With the reopening of the 649 clubs in Belgium and France, the last two countries in which clubs were still closed due to COVID-19 related government measures, all 905 Basic-Fit clubs will have reopened. In the Netherlands we have seen strong momentum in our membership base after the reopening last month. The number of joiners we registered since the announced reopening in the Netherlands on 19 May was three times the number we reported pre COVID-19 in the full month of May 2019. Due to the limited number of leavers, the net increase in memberships in the Netherlands in May was more than 39,000. We are encouraged by the strong membership developments and have restarted our club rollout plans. In June, we expect to open 68 new clubs. We currently expect to open around 105 new clubs in 2021, bringing the total number of clubs to 1010. We will communicate more about our medium-term growth plans during our Capital Markets Day on 4 November.
